Lego 4475 - Jabba's Message, Lego 4476 - Jabba's Prize, Lego 4480 - Jabba's Palace

The other set that arrived together with the TIE Bomber from Canada was the long-awaited Jabba's Palace. I had won Jabba's Message and Jabba's Prize from earlier eBay auctions and was missing the big chunk in the middle until now.

More a playset than an actual model of the palace, this features several unique mini-figures - including every adolescent fanboy's fantasy - Princess Leia in chains and a bronze bikini. Jabba's platform slides back to drop his victim down a trapdoor exactly like in the Return of the Jedi film. What's lacking is a Rancor monster and his keeper.

Jabba's Message and Jabba's Prize playsets can be connected to Jabba's palace to form various scenes from Return of the Jedi. Jabba's message is arguably the better of the two as it has both C-3PO and R2-D2 mini-figures in addition to the unique Bib Fortuna mini-figure. Jabba's Prize has Han Solo frozen in carbonite, Gamorrean Guard and the bounty hunter Boba Fett. Both sets are overpriced given the small number of pieces though.

Lego 4479 - TIE Bomber

I have been busy recently. Didn't have time to read my comics nor play with toys, let alone blog about them. Hence the absence of new posts the past few weeks.

This is one of two sets which arrived in the mail in the past week and I had only managed to build it this weekend. All the way by surface mail from Sasketchawan, Canada, it took all of 11 weeks to arrive.

This set was released back in 2003 and consists of 230 pieces in total. Overall, a pretty good design that resembles the movie version in Empire Strikes Back and comes with a TIE pilot mini-figure. It fires a missile and actually drops fusion bombs once the bomb bay is opened. Picture parts are also non-stickered, so no problems with decals peeling. However, the connectors are not sturdy enough. It also requires a odd-looking support at the bottom just to support the middle commponents from slacking down.
